Forest School @ Five Rivers Environmental Education Center

Tuesday May 21st, 2024

Session time: 10:00am-12:30pm (6-12 Years Old)

Please register by May 18th

Our youth programs are focused on building ecological literacy, and immersing kids in the wonder of the natural world. Our Forest School sessions are conducted outside in most weather* in public parks and preserves. We keep the student to teacher ratio low by limiting Forest School to eight learners per teacher. We allow plentiful time for Nature-based play and the opportunity for children to participate in reasonably risky play like climbing trees and playing with sticks. Our curriculum is designed to meet kids where they are, and it covers a broad range of often seasonal ecological topics.

Parents are welcome join us in the session, or to stay and relax in the center. Drop-off is also okay if your child is comfortable with that.

PS: The age range is only a recommendation. Older kids are also welcome! Especially if they love mentoring younger children. Please use your judgement, and feel free to reach out and discuss. We are very much used to working with mixed age groups, and encourage it whenever we can. We also allow 5 year olds to attend, but parents must stay with the group.

  • Hike and exploration (1.5-2.0 miles)
